cats, finally

i haven’t had a lot of energy lately because of my six week course of daily brain radiation, which you can read about on my other blog if you’d like. i’m in the middle of week 5 now, so only 7 more treatments to go. the homestretch. and my doc put me on steroids for these last 2 weeks, to help with the inflammation of my brain which has been causing all kinds of havoc including double vision, headaches, nausea and more. it seems to be working, plus with the added benefit of more energy, canceling out some of the fatigue that’s been building up as the cumulative effect of radiation takes hold.

so i am feeling hopeful that maybe i can finally get some stuff listed on my webshop this weekend for a little art drop. i have actually been tinkering every now and then in the studio and some of my silly motivational cats paintings are ready to go and i have some small abstracts that are ready to list as well. i also made a trial order of IMPEACH CONVICT REMOVE stickers that should arrive on saturday; i won’t have many cuz i’m trying out a new printer and just wanted a sample and they were running a deal so i did it to see how they would turn out and mostly cuz i just wanted some for myself to put on the car and around town. i’ll post about it when they come in. if there’s interest, i’ll order more.

i was thinking i’d wait until the holiday porch pop-up we have planned for saturday dec. 12th to sell these cats but that’s a long time from now and i need money now and also i can paint more before then if folks end up liking these. they are silly and were mostly a project i did for myself, to have these staring at me as i go through radiation treatment. but hopefully they speak to some of you as well. i’m still trying to settle on a price for them. they are mostly 6″ x 6″ on flat 1/4″ basswood panels, done in acrylic paint and acrylic markers. the wood was sealed, gessoed and there’s some collage texture on some of them under the layers of paint. the slightly larger ones – the 6″x8″ cradled panel and the 8″x8″ round one at the top – were both cover ups of failed pieces so they have more texture going on than most. all have been varnished with water-based clear satin spar urethane. they can be framed with little floater frames or mounted on the wall as-is with mounting strips, as they are very lightweight. or just sat on a shelf leaning up against the wall. easy to display small art to brighten up any space. i’m struggling with pricing because they were a lot more work than they look, but i’ll let you know this weekend what i decide.

stay tuned for more!
