newsletter option

i just want to make a quick post to make folks aware that wordpress recently updated all of their blogs with the newsletter option via the jetpack plugin. it took me a minute to figure out how to toggle this on for this art site, since i pay for a fancy theme and it wasn’t automatically on. but i finally found it. so this means if you subscribe/opt-in using the buttons on this and every page of my site, you will get all of my blog posts emailed to you, so you don’t have to rely on a) going to my website regularly looking for new posts, or b) hoping the algorithm will serve you my social media posts about them.

i don’t post all that frequently here – i’m lucky if i get to it once a month, unless i have something big going on. perhaps i will aspire to twice a month if i get more consistent about my art practice. but i don’t think you’d ever be at risk of me spamming you endlessly with blog posts. it’s just an easy way for you to keep up with my art escapades and support me by following along. i’d appreciate it so i don’t feel so much like i’m shouting into the void. (and you can always unsubscribe if you end up feeling like it’s too much or you are just not interested.)

i started a mailchimp newsletter a year or two back but never did get around to writing a regular newsletter. it just felt redundant to what i was already posting on my website and social media. i think this is more practical for me for right now, to use my blog posts as a newsletter of sorts. so i’ve imported the list of those of you who subscribed over there to here and if you don’t want to be subscribed anymore, you can easily unsubscribe from these posts. (i had actually gotten up to 140+ subscribers over there but i have a feeling a lot of them were bots/fake emails so i only carried over those of you who i recognize and/or who made a comment on the sign-up form. i probably lost a few legit new subscribers but this feels like the only ethical way to do this.)

ok, that’s it. that’s the post. please enjoy this snippet of some of the panels i’ve been experimenting with this week in the studio.
